City of Durham Land Development Office

Welcome to the Land Development Office (LDO) for the City and County of Durham. This web portal supports the development permitting process by providing access to permit tracking from initial review through project completion. Applicants can use this portal to submit trade permit applications, submit permit fee payments, and manage building and trade permit inspection needs.

Most existing records for development related permit applications accepted for review, along with review comments and inspection results for parcels within the City and County of Durham since October 2007 can be found here. Please use the menu on the left side of the screen to navigate the portal.

NOTE: Accounts cannot be created using this portal.
A Client Identification Account (CID) must be created by our staff before you can register your email and access the portal for company specific permitting needs. To request a CID for building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or city fire protection permits, send an email with the subject line "CID Permitting Account Needed" to permittechnicians@durhamnc.gov. Be sure to provide your contact details and any construction licenses associated with you or your company in this email.

Fee Payments
The LDO Web Portal connects securely to Paymentus Corporation for payment processing. Paymentus charges a non refundable convenience fee that is separate from the permit payment. Payment processing fees include a 3.3% fee per credit card transaction, and a $0.50 fee per electronic check (e check) transaction.
